Is 8Bn to much to pay to put one over on the French. Of course not. Up yours Jaques. 8Bn for 6 years of anti french gloating is money well spent. And by 2012, when we realise that its 24Bn and a huge F*** up ? Well, it won't be on Tonys watch. With luck The tories will be back in and we can blame them and pack them off to the political wilderness for another 12 years. :-)

If all goes to the usual British way of doing big projects (Heathrow T5 anyone? Crossrail? Channel Tunnel rail link? Wembley? and so the list goes on) then there will be a public enquiry that will start sometime between now and 2007 which will cost more than the actual project and will not deliver its verdict until 2011 by which time the 2012 Olympics will by then be renamed the 2013 Olympics and will be delivered in three 'key' phases between then and 2020 subject to Parlimentary approval for funding at each stage.

First indications that the explosions this morning in London are the work of the French.

Yeah what a great choice for your source of humour Tony. People injured or killed and you make a joke of it. Still I'll bet that you will still take the piss out of the DM and DE headlines tomorrow and consider yourself as being clever.

anonymous,

I will only derride the DM & DE if they cover todays tragic events in thier style.

My thoughts are with the people affected by today's events - I very much doubt the DM's and DE's are. They're thinking about what picture they will print tomorrow and what word will spread panic around the rest of the UK.

Dear Anon,

OK I apologise for the comment that I made earlier. If you have heard some of the other speculation on some of the other media networks as I have It is worse. Some arsehole from the esteemed Wall St Journel kept pressing as to how many children had been badly injured or killed. Now that is bad. No doubt the DM & DE will sufficiently frighten people from going about their normal business. Sorry once again !

Sometimes, no matter how terrible it is, or how tastless the joke is, you have to make the joke. It's a way of dealing with the pain, of saying 'no matter what the cost I'm still smiling, because I won't let the bastards win'. So yeah, Jaques, we stole your olympics and gave you mad cow. Remember Agincourt? :-)

And a big V to the terrorist scum.
